Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Protection

A new empty home can be filled with many electronic devices.

The mere thought of knowingly contributing to brain tumor development is a frightening concept. That is exactly what we are doing when we encourage the use of cell phones, cordless phones, wireless internet, computer devices, and Bluetooth technology in our homes without discretion. Every time we sleep with the transformers from our cell phone charger next to our beds, or have computers and laptops in the room where we sleep, we are endangering our health.

Statistics show that over 30% of all children under the age of 13 years in the U.S. own a cellular phone and an amazing 50% of all teenagers own a cellular phone. Another alarming statistic shows that young people who use cell phones before the age of 20 are five times more likely to be at risk for malignant brain tumors than children who do not use mobile phones. 1

Every cell phone model sold in the United States has a specific measurement of how much of the phone’s microwave energy can penetrate the brain. Between 20% and 80% of the radiation emitted by a mobile phone is deposited in the user's head, depending on the proximity of the cell phone antenna to the head. The microwave radiation is absorbed by and actually penetrates the area around the head, some reaching an inch to an inch and a half into the brain 2.

The International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety (ICEMS), a worldwide organization of concerned scientists, issued an urgent call for more health and safety protections against Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) hazards. They state that epidemiological evidence on the adverse effects of EMF’s are stronger than ever and they take exception to the claim of the wireless communication industry that there was not credible scientific evidence to justify the risk. As a precautionary measure, ICEMS advise that EMF exposure standards be lowered and that children and teenagers limit the use of cell phones or other wireless devices 3.

How do EMF’s affect our health?

Our homes and places of business are loaded with electromagnetic fields (EMF’s). Healthy spaces are nonexistent due to the constant bombardment of environmental levels of extremely low frequencies and electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF) creating electric smog in our homes.

Melatonin, the natural neuro-hormone in our body secreted by the pineal gland, synchronizes the ebb and flow of reproductive hormones such as estrogen. Melatonin also helps us sleep at night and can be considered a physiological anticancer substance because it inhibits the proliferation of cancerous cells. Environmental factors like EMFs reduce melatonin and increase breast cancer risk because the reduction of melatonin allows circulating levels of estrogen to rise. With the depletion of melatonin in our bodies, the agent which helps reduce the possibility that cells will become carcinogenic is lacking. 4

What are EMF’s

Electromagnetic fields are the invisible electrical and magnetic forces radiating from anything operating on an electrical current. Any time an electric current runs through a wire or an appliance, it produces an electromagnetic field (EMF). Electromagnetic fields are found wherever there is electricity and around any object that has an electric charge.

What are the facts?

There is a substantial body of scientific evidence showing that mobile phone radiation causes biological effects. These studies have indicated that there are possible health implications related to impaired brain function and behavioral disorders, symptoms like headaches and fatigue, and an increased risk of cancer and autism. 5 Environmental levels of extremely low frequencies and electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF) can act at the cellular level to enhance breast cancer proliferation by blocking melatonin’s natural anticarcinogen or oncostatic ability 6.

What can we do?

  • We can start by limiting the use of cell phones to emergencies only and opting for texting messages and placing calls on speaker phone instead of holding the phones next to our ear.

  • Limit your cell phone use in cars because the radiation is amplified.

  • Use air tube head sets and ferret beads that can be placed on either air tube or traditional headsets to filter some of the EMF’s that would otherwise penetrate the brain.

  • You can also hire a professional EMF specialist to decrease the exposure in your own home.
