Bathing through the ages

Bathing through the agesThroughout history, bathing has held a special place in the rituals of cultures. The Romans were famous for their bathhouses and bathing was seen as both a rite and a refuge. Up to 3,000 people bathed simultaneously and activities included huge food feasts, performance theatre and massage.

Bathing to the Egyptians was seen as purification for daily prayers. The Japanese bathed to cleanse the mind and spirit in order to renew their connection with nature while the Greeks took cold showers to fortify their spirit.

In today’s world, bathing often means taking a quick shower to get clean. Showers also take much less water than a bath which is good for the earth. How do we reconcile and still establish time for this luxurious treat? Try making your bath a ritual…once a week. After a long hard week a good soak can be just the trick to renew your soul.
