I am 64 years old, eat healthy, exercise daily and people say I look great for my age. Over the last 6 months I have gained almost 10 lb. I have been taking three different blood pressure medications because my blood pressure suddenly jumped up very high. Recently I saw a show on the Health channel where Dr. Oz suggested that blood pressure medications increased weight. I have done my research and found that it is true. How can I counteract the side effects of the weight gain without jeopardizing my blood pressure? My Doctor just says that I will have to deal with it because low blood pressure is more important than my weight. -Judith

I love goodies! I feel less guilty indulging in those that are relatively fat free such as gummy bears, licorice, wine gums, etc. and feel that I am better off at least in escaping the unwanted pounds. I noticed that many such goodie products contain gelatin. What is gelatin made from? Is it bad for you? Is there a difference between a natural/organic product made with gelatin vs. a conventional product with gelatin as its ingredient? -Kim

A friend of mine just gave me a bag of bee pollen (my friends gives me very fun and interesting gifts!). It's from a local organic market. I've heard of it before, and even picked it up to look at it in stores, but never really gave it a second thought or tried it. Can you give me some information about this? Like, what it's good for, how to ingest it/how often and when? I have never been stung by a bee, so I have no idea if I have an allergy to them or the pollen. Is there a way to test this beforehand? Thanks! -Sue

My family has been taking supplements for many years. We've been taking 1000 mgs of D, 400 IU of E and 10,000 IU of vitamin A everyday. Since we live in a northern latitude, I feel it is important to include these supplements with calcium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, vitamin C, etc. Our new homeopathic doctor recently told us she believes taking D, A, and E are unnecessary because they store up in the liver. She feels this is part of a supplement fad and that we are overdosing on A, D and E which could damage our livers. What is your opinion?
