Is Wheat Grass Safe For Kids?

Q. Is wheat grass safe for kids? I love wheat grass and have read about its benefits and am wondering if it is good for kids too? – Farah

A: Wheat grass has been used as a food supplement since the 1930's. It provides an excellent source of beta-carotene, vitamin K, folic acid, calcium, iron, protein, and fiber, vitamin C, many of the B vitamins, and contains a variety of blood-building factors. It is very safe for children over two years of age. If taken in powder form, begin with a small quantity. 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon daily mixed with water, honey or juice and taken with food is an appropriate dose.
