Q: I was watching a show on TV & they mentioned that one should not eat fruit at night as it causes the natural sugars to stay in the body instead of being used or needed. Can you comment on this as I often like to eat fruit instead of snacking on junk. -Elana

A: Fruit is a better option than junk food, but stick to low-glycemic fruit like apples, pears and berries. Avoid sweet and tropical fruit after 5 pm if you're trying to keep your weight down.
