It wasn’t that long ago that the thought of organic home fabrics conjured up the image of layers and layers of boring beige. But thanks to an increased interest in organic textiles as well as innovations in the textile industry, you can now achieve a beautiful and colorful interior for your home with organic textiles and reduce your family’s exposure to harmful chemicals. Unfortunately, your average fabric store might not have a huge selection of organic home textile fabrics, but not to worry, we’ve rounded up five great resources for organic fabrics for all of your home decorating needs.
1. Oliveira Textiles– Inspired by nature, and in particular the ocean, this boutique textile manufacturer prints their ten patterns in vibrant colors (including custom color-ways) on organic cotton, hemp (a crop that is not dependent on chemicals), and silk.
2. Hart’s Fabric– With everything from organic cotton canvas in essential solid colors and geometric prints to upholstery-weight florals and stripes, and bright and bold hemp solids, Hart’s Fabric offers a great selection of organic fabrics whether you are looking to make pillows or re-cover your living room furniture.
3. Amy Butler for Rowan– Well known for her fun and colorful prints, one of Amy Butler’s lines is made from 100-percent organic cotton and includes pretty paisleys, stunning floral prints, and striking geometrics. The Alchemy line is printed on lightweight organic cotton that is perfect for making quilted projects, bedding, pillows, table linens, and more.
4. Monaluna– While all of Monaluna’s fabrics are printed on GOTS-certified organic cotton, their Modern Home collection is particularly great for the person who loves a modern twist in their décor as the patterns include a bright chevron, herringbone, ikat, and more.
5. Spoonflower– With the largest collection of independent fabric designers in the world offering their patterns to the public to be printed on ten different textile options including organic cotton knit and organic cotton sateen, Spoonflower offers the largest selection of organic cotton fabric patterns available for pillows, curtains, and bedding. And, if for some reason you can’t find one you like, you can also design your own fabric and upload the pattern to be printed.
