8 DIY Detox Drinks You Can Make In Five Minutes or Less

The detox theory is the simplest and one of the easiest to understand. The simple theory is that when you flush out toxins from your body, you fell better and as an added bonus you may experience weight loss. We all are exposed to a lot of toxins, not just by making unhealthy food choices, but also by living in an unhealthy environment. All those toxins that accumulate in your body contribute to chronic health issues, inflammation and weight gain. That weight usually manifests as fat around the belly.

So, if you one of your goals is to attain a healthier weight, one way to do is to flush out the toxins. How can you do that? It is not a simple switch on and off for flushing. You need to introduce some detox beverages into your daily routine. Today, I will suggest few detox drinks you can easily make at the convenience of your home. Let’s go.

Lemon detox water

One of the simplest and easiest drinks is lemon detox water. But I have a twist for you. This is not the ordinary lemon detox water.

Lemon has been known as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory ingredient for a long time now. Rich in vitamin C, lemon helps you get rid of toxins easily. But to make the beverage more potent, I want to add a slice or two of cucumber. Here is the ingredients list:

Apple and cinnamon detox water

Most of the beverages you’ll find on the list are actually detox water. Or, as some like to call it, infused water. For this beverage, you’ll need the following ingredients:

1 apple

1 cinnamon stick

1 pitcher of water

The recipe contains fewer than 10 calories, which is great when you want to lose weight. Slice the apple, and add it to the pitcher of water along with the cinnamon stick. Let it stay there for few hours, and then drink a glass whenever you feel like it. Bonus points: the beverage provides a huge energy boost.

Dr. Oz detox drink

Dr. Oz is one of the more famous people helping people to live healthily. Now, Oz is not a magician who came up with a drink. But he helped popularize this beverage. That is why people call it the Oz detox drink. What is in there?

1 large pitcher of water

1 grapefruit

1 cucumber

1 tangerine

20 peppermint leaves

As with previous recipes, you need to slice up the fruits and veggies. Let the fruits stay in the water overnight, and then drink one glass before meals. In addition to flushing toxins, this beverage increases your energy and provides hydration.

Dr. Oz detox smoothie

We had a detox drink, now we get another detox beverage from Dr. Oz. The smoothie is part of his detox collection. Here is the ingredient list:

1 cup of water

¼ cup of spinach

1 banana

1 cup of raspberries

1 tablespoon of flax seeds

2 teaspoons of lemon juice

1 tablespoon of almond butter

Mix all the ingredients in a blender. I recommend you drink this smoothie for breakfast, as it is rich in fiber.

Green tea detox drink

Green tea has become one of the most popular beverages in the past years. There is a good reason for it. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, green tea is a low caloric drink that helps you lose weight. But you can always take things to the next level. And in that spirit, I want to help you enrich your green tea.

Brew your green tea as usual, and then let it cool down for five minutes. Squeeze some lemon in it, add a teaspoon of honey, a slice of cucumber, and some strawberries. You can prepare this beverage in batch.

[Editor's Note: Bigelow Tea, offers many different teas which can be used to infuse water or create a green tea detox drink with their green tea.]

Detox tea

For slimming tea, you need one cup of green tea, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 tablespoon of raw honey, few drops of lemon juice, and a pinch of cayenne powder.

If you want ginger detox tea that will help you revitalize your skin in addition to lose weight, you need one cup of green tea, juice from half a lemon, and some ginger powder. Ginger is one of the more potent ingredients you can get for losing weight. The first beverage is a bit sweet thanks to cinnamon, while the latter is sour and spicy due to ginger.

Stress-free detox drink

We are living in a stressful world. We face stress on a daily basis. I want to give you a stress relieving drink. Here are the ingredients:

16 oz cold water

½ cup of ice

5  strawberries

½ cup pineapple

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

4 basil leaves

Fill a pitcher with water, ice, and apple cider vinegar. Add all the fruits, but be sure to smash and squeeze them into the beverage. Add the basil leaves at the end, and stir well. Let it stay for 20 minutes, and then drink. Stir again before drinking.

Fruit infused water

Last, but not least, I want to give you several different recipes for infused water. These recipes are great when you crave soda. Adding fruit makes your water less boring to drink. And you reap extra benefits depending on the fruits.

For example, to improve digestion and appetite control, as well as improve your hydration, add cucumber, lemon, and lime.

If you want to control your blood sugar, you need to add strawberries, cucumber, and kiwi fruit.

And if your goal is to lose weight, add a cup of green tea, mint leaves, and lime to your water.

Enjoy!
