White Sauce

White Sauce

This recipe provides a zero-cholesterol alternative to the traditional "heart-attack-on-a-plate" cream-sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw cashews
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. arrowroot powder
  • 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast

Steps/Methods:

  1. In a blender, combine the cashews and 1 cup of water. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add the remaining water and the other ingredients. Blend again.
  3. Pour the mixture into a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sauce reaches a thick and creamy consistency.

Serve over pasta, vegetables, rice, or potatoes.
