Pesto tastes great on pasta, zucchini noodles, sandwiches, wraps, fish, or chicken. This pesto combines traditional ingredients and adds a greens powder for even more nutritional value. Basil which is the base of most pesto recipes is anti-inflammatory and full of antioxidants to help keep you healthy. Enjoy!
2 cups fresh basil
1 packet of Kyo-Green Greens Blend Powdered Drink Mix
3 tbsps of pine nuts or brazil nuts
3 large cloves of garlic
2 tbsps of lemon juice
2-3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
3-4 tbsps of nutritional yeast or cheese
¼ tsp sea salt
3 tbsps water or more if the pesto is too thick
Blend all the ingredients in a food processor or blender. Enjoy it on pasta, fish, or chicken. Store any remaining pesto in a jar in the fridge for a week or freeze it in an icecube tray in the freezer for up to one month.
[Note: We don't recommend heating the pesto to high temperatures as this can decrease the nutritional profile of the greens powder.]
